Join the African American Museum in Philadelphia for our annual Opening Kwanzaa Unity Celebration! In the spirit of Umjoa (Unity), which means “to strive for and maintain unity in the family, community, nation, and race,” this fun, family-friendly event will feature live drumming, the lighting of the Kinara, and a chance to learn about the Nguzo Saba—the seven principles of Kwanzaa. Enjoy drumming, live music, food, and activities celebrating culture, race, and community. All hosted by this year’s incredible MC, Shekinah B! Preregistration for the event is highly encouraged. Guests are encouraged to dress in Kente, Ankara, or positive and empowering Kwanzaa-related attire all week long!
